European Training Symposium (ETS)

A biannual symposium for junior heart failure cardiologists and junior cardiac surgeons on end stage heart failure and heart replacement therapies, held at the University Hospital Berne, Switzerland.

Medical and device management of end-stage heart failure becomes an emerging field for heart failure cardiologists. Unfortunately, no dedicated and officially accepted training program exists to date. One of the problems is the uncertainty who is cognizant for the topic? The cardiac surgeons or the cardiologists? In fact management of such kind of patients belongs to both specialties, but also to the referring physicians in practice.

EUROMACS was founded in 2009 with the target to bring together individuals and institutions with the goal of running a European registry for data from patients with mechanical circulatory support systems. As responsible European registry, the association emphasizes also training of junior heart failure cardiologists and cardiac surgeons in training. The 1st symposium was held in 2012 and the sequal in June 2014.

The 3rd ETS Symposium will be held from June 24-25, 2016 in Berne/Switzerland.

 ETS 2016 program final

Unfortunately, we will not be able to organise the 4th ETS Symposium as planned in June - there will be no Symposium in 2018. Our apologies to our loyal attendees and to all interested, and thank you for your support so far.

Participation of three training symposia will allow junior heart failure fellows to apply for an EUROMACS certification.
